We provide a welcoming space for community connection and mentoring, and serve as an incubator for creative solutions to textile waste through collaboration and innovation. We have flexible options for using our facility which offers sewing and weaving stations, equipment and tools, and educational programs including informal drop-ins, membership options and scheduled workshops. You’ll find us just behind the main GIRO building at 700 Tin Can Alley, Gabriola Island.
The Makerspace is also home to GIRO’s textile shredding operation where we transform textiles which cannot be sold or upcycled into 100% recycled shredded fibre for use in various arts, crafts, upholstery, and industrial applications.
We welcome your input and suggestions. If you have ideas for workshops or projects, or would like to teach a workshop, please get in touch.
